CD Projekt Red describes Cyberpunk 2077 as an open-world action-adventure RPG set in Night City, a dangerous metropolis preoccupied with power, glamour and body modification. That introduction gives the setting a set of values before it tells us how to navigate it. Identity is part of the city’s vocabulary.
An invitation can become pressure
The idea of changing yourself can suggest freedom: becoming someone on your own terms. A culture that continually demands reinvention suggests something less comfortable. The question is where self-expression ends and an expectation to keep up begins.
Look past the surface appeal
A striking city can attract you through colour and spectacle. Its stated values offer another way in: whose approval matters there, and what might that approval cost? Consider whether you want to inhabit the fantasy, question it or do both.
