A project measured across time
Firaxis introduces Civilization VI through expanding an empire, developing culture and competing with historical leaders. Its central invitation is to build something that lasts. Even at this broad level, the premise connects present decisions with a much longer imagined future.
Plans give the present a second meaning
A choice can solve a current problem while also expressing a hope about what comes next. Planning lets a single decision carry both meanings. You are attending both to the situation in front of you and to a version of it that does not yet exist. The pleasure may lie in seeing a plan unfold, or in revising the plan when your original picture no longer fits.
Consider your appetite for delayed effects
Think about whether you prefer feedback that arrives immediately or enjoy carrying an unresolved intention across several decisions. They make different demands on attention.
