Survival through accumulation
Poncle describes Vampire Survivors as a game with roguelite elements in which choices can build into increasingly powerful effects against large numbers of creatures. Its official framing puts survival beside escalation. A decision is presented as something that can matter beyond the instant in which it is made.
An effect can reveal a pattern
A small choice may be difficult to judge on its own. As other choices gather around it, a pattern can become easier to recognise. There is pleasure in that delayed visibility: an intention acquiring a shape you can finally observe. The attraction is not necessarily having planned every detail. It may be recognising something that emerged along the way.
Separate spectacle from understanding
An expanding effect can be satisfying to watch without being equally satisfying to analyse. Consider whether you want to understand the relationships behind it or mainly enjoy the transformation.
