A climb with two meanings

Celeste’s official description introduces Madeline’s journey up a mountain alongside her inner struggles, within a platform game built around challenges. The physical climb and personal framing sit together in that premise. They give us a reason to consider how the language of achievement shapes expectations before we even begin.

Skill is a narrow measurement

Resist treating success at a task as a measure of the player. A challenge can ask for attention, timing or persistence without becoming a verdict on character. It is possible to value an attempt while also deciding to pause.

Set a smaller question

Instead of asking whether you are the kind of person who finishes difficult games, ask what you want from this particular challenge. Perhaps it is understanding a movement, finding a rhythm or spending time with a story. That question leaves room for curiosity without turning completion into an obligation.
