A colony and a storyteller

Ludeon describes RimWorld as a science-fiction colony simulation driven by an AI storyteller. Its official framing connects generated stories with simulated relationships, needs and environmental conditions. Planning is part of the premise, but so is the possibility of events becoming a story.

A disruption can change the question

If the only measure of success is executing a plan, an unexpected event looks like interference. Ask whether following the consequences can be interesting in its own right. That does not require enjoying every loss or treating every outcome as meaningful. It distinguishes an appetite for control from an appetite for emergence.

Recognise which kind of attention you want

Consider whether you would rather repair a situation until it matches your intention or allow a changed situation to suggest a new intention. You might prefer different answers on different days.
